Most World cruises depart in January, just in time to escape the winter months. On a typical 100 day world cruise you can expect to travel over 30,000 nautical miles and visit up to 40 different ports. They often cross the equator more than once and tend not to repeat the same itinerary on future world cruises.

Cruises start from the UK, New York, Los Angeles or Miami. Travelling through the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, the Indian Ocean to the Far East either go north to China, or south to Australia, then across the Pacific Ocean to America, through the Panama Canal to the Caribbean... or the reverse direction. Stopping at many ports of call it gives the opportunity to see a lifetime's worth of holidays.

If a 3 month world cruise holiday is too long then most offer fly/cruise sectors ranging in duration from 2 weeks. These sections can be combined thereby creating a tailored cruise without embarking on a full around the world cruise. Another shorter option is the trend in Grand Voyages, navigating around South America or Africa usually taking a month to complete.

Ships that operate world voyages tend to be the most comfortable with a vast variety of onboard entertainment. These voyages are very popular and tend to fill up quickly – early booking is highly recommended to ensure your desired cabin.
