Many cruise lines offer organised daytime activities and evening social events for those travelling alone. A favourite is the organised singles cocktail party, and daily get-together to arrange shore excursions with like-mined people.
Some cruise lines, notably Fred Olsen Cruises, offer gentlemen and lady hosts for dancing and conversation.
Not all cruise lines cater well for single passengers with single supplements often being very high. Generally, the older ships tend to have more single occupancy cabins. Twin/double cabins are sold for single occupancy at a supplement. Some cruise lines offer cabin share programmes where they match with the same sex to share a twin cabin. These tend to be limited in number and fill very early so early booking is highly recommended.
